Did life get in the way of your WOD last week? Here are 4 simple ways to make it happen…
When I first started running again after having kids I hated it. I thought I hated it because, well, running sucks, right? I continued running despite my lack of enjoyment because I had a running buddy. We were in terrible condition but we had each other – and that was worth a lot. In the beginning I ran for her, not for myself. She got me out there. After a few weeks of slogging through our 5k runs something awesome happened – it didn’t suck so much anymore. It didn’t suck because I was finally getting in shape. My chest didn’t burn! I know it may seem obvious to anyone who is already in great shape. It is obvious to me now. But back then it was a wonderful revelation and I began to run for myself out of enjoyment. I loved how I felt during my long runs and even better how I felt after.
- Make an appointment: Don’t just think you’ll attend class. Write it down! Make it an actual appointment in your schedule.
- Find a WOD buddy: CrossFit is fun and social. If at first you can’t do it for yourself find a friend and make it a social lifting/WOD date with him/her.
- Reach out to your coaches: We will get on you to attend class. We will help you set attendance and performance goals. That is why you joined, right?
- Ask us to be match maker: Can’t find a WOD buddy on your own? We can hook you up with another member who will be counting on YOU to meet them in class.
