Tell us about you sports & fitness background:
I’ve always been athletic and played various sports (soccer, volleyball, hockey, track) as a kid. I also speed skated competitively for about 7 years. After college, I played roller derby with the DC Rollergirls for 4 years until I had to get knee surgery last year.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel?
I started trying Crossfit workouts through the fire department. I took a class while visiting another department and did various workouts with friends while at work. Had a great time so started looking for a gym near me! My first named WOD was a half Cindy. It was tough, even with banded pull ups.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF (before/after)?
I feel stronger overall than before I started Crossfit. I’ve gained weight but I’ve also noticed more definition than I had before.
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected?
Crossfit has made me much more aware of my own body and how my daily choices make me feel. Things like pre workout hydration, food and sleep. The Paleo Challenge was also really helpful since everyone at the gym is so supportive!

I don’t have one particular favorite moment. I’ve really enjoyed practicing all the gymnastics movements at CFIL! Those are always my favorite days!
Any advice for people just getting started?
Try your best, keep moving and do what works for you! You don’t have to be the fastest or strongest to get a great workout.
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?
I enjoy stand up paddleboarding, eating out and traveling. And I’m also single 😉
