Tell us about your sports & fitness background:
I played little league sports, some high school, some intramural sports, and some 5k/10k/10miler/half marathons. In college I started lifting weights at the school gym and got hooked. I got my personal trainer certification and worked off and on as a trainer for a little while.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel?
For a while I was doing a lot of running which led to a knee injury that I haven’t fully healed from. My workouts got kind of boring so I started looking for ways to change it up. I started hearing about crossfit in the news and from one person I know so I looked into it. Did some workouts on my own and stopped in at another gym once. The workout I did at this other gym started with a skill of Turkish get ups, then strength portion was doing deadlifts, and the WOD was AMRAP burpee box jumps in 4 minutes. The TGU and deadlifts felt great cause I was used to that. The burpee box jumps sucked but in a good way. I had nothing left in the tank when I was done. That hour session let me keep lifting weights like I enjoyed but also left me gasping for air when I was done.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF (before/after)?
ive lost a bit of weight through the diet challenges at the gym. People have commented that I look leaner than I did when I started crossfit. Between when I first started crossfit and now I’m sucking a lot less wind during the workouts.
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected?
I broke up with my old gym that I had worked out at for close to ten years
Please share with us any favorite Inner Loop moment(s)!
Getting my first muscle up, the open workouts, and every time I do something better than I did before.
