Nick wouldn’t call himself a gym rat, but was reasonably fit through his 20s thanks to soccer and the US Army. Like many, He took nearly a decade off from exercise (other than cycling) – graduate school, kids, and career all seemed like excellent excuses. He decided to make a change in 2011, and began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Nick quickly realized that (a) fitness matters in BJJ, and (b) fitness matters even more when you’re grappling with guys half your age. Nick’s CrossFit journey began in 2012, and he appreciated the benefits of an active recovery and how CrossFit can be scaled to accommodate any level of fitness.
Since then, Nick has earned a blue belt and also totally embraced CrossFit. Nick notes, ”I’ve also discovered that I really enjoy coaching kids. I enjoy the challenge of figuring out how to effectively teach kids relatively complicated techniques while making sure that they’re having fun.” He really appreciates the family-friendly atmosphere at Inner Loop and enjoys being part of the coaching team.
