9/11 Tribute WOD

6:00am, 12:00pm, and 4:30pm classes ONLY (Intro to Acro Yoga will be held at 5:30pm today)

Today is a day in which we are called to remember the heroic sacrifice of those involved in the attacks on our nation on September 11, 2001. Although to some a workout may seem like a small way to honor those who gave their lives on this day, it is a gesture in which we remember and honor all those who died on this day and in service to others.  It is a way in which we put our brief discomforts aside, using them as a way to honor those who can no longer be with us. It’s a way that as the CrossFit Inner Loop community we can come together and honor some of our nation’s heroes.

We offer special thanks today to our members who currently serve as firemen, policemen, and in our armed services — we are grateful for the service you offer to our community every day.

This memorial workout is designed to be completely symbolic of the events that unfolded on September 11, 2001. The date and year are represented by the row (i.e. 2001 meters) and the 9 movements, each including 11 repetitions. The 125-pound Thrusters represent the deaths that occurred at the Pentagon; the 175-pound Power Clean stands for AA Flight 175 that collided with the South Tower; Flight 77 and Flight 93 were combined and are represented in the 170-pound Deadlift; and the 110-pound Push Jerk signifies the number floors in each of the Twin Towers.

Please remember that all movements and weights are scalable, as always.
